How we check listings

Every fact on a firm’s page shows where it came from and the date we checked it.

Two layers of information

1. The regulator’s record. A firm’s name, SRA number, authorisation status, offices, contact details and the areas of work it reports all come from the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s register. We refresh them every month. Firms cannot edit these details on our site.

2. Details from the firm itself. Over time we add a short description of each firm, written in our own words, along with accreditations, languages, opening hours, accessibility and a link to the firm’s price information. We take these from the firm’s own website, a person checks them before they are published, and we re-check them at least once a year.

Who is listed

We list every firm that the SRA shows as authorised and that has an office with a Coventry postcode from CV1 to CV6. That includes Coventry branches of firms based elsewhere. We do not list a firm whose Coventry office does not appear on the SRA register, even if it has a “Coventry” page on its website.

When a firm closes

If the SRA shows that a firm is no longer authorised, we remove its listing at the next monthly refresh.

Claimed listings

A firm can claim its listing to confirm its details. We accept claims only from a business email address on the firm’s own domain, as shown in its SRA record (its website or office email), and a person approves each one. A claimed listing is marked “Details confirmed by the business”. That means the firm has checked its details. It is not an endorsement.

Something wrong?

Use Suggest an update on the firm’s page. We check every report against the SRA register or the firm’s own website before changing anything.
